In medical science Oedema or Edema, are terms used for swelling due to excess watery fluid. It can happen due to inflammation or injury. It may affect a small area or the entire body of the patient. Edema can affect different parts of the body peripheral edema, pedal edema, lymphedema, pulmonary edema, cerebral edema and macular edema. It occurs if the small blood vessels leak fluid in the tissues located close to them. This fluid causes the tissue to swell.
