About Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet
Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet is a medication primarily used to prevent asthma attacks in children and to alleviate breathing difficulties caused by physical activities. Additionally, it is effective in treating seasonal allergies such as runny nose, sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes. It contains Montelukast, a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking a chemical messenger called leukotriene, which reduces inflammation and swelling in the airways. This action helps in making breathing easier and preventing asthma attacks, as well as reducing allergic reactions from triggers like dust or pollen.
When giving Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet to your child, it is essential to follow the prescribed dose, timing, and method. For optimal results in preventing asthma attacks, it is recommended to administer the tablet in the evening or 2 hours before physical activity. In the case of allergies, the tablet is best given in the evening, depending on the timing of symptom onset, or in the evening if the child has both asthma and seasonal allergies. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, you may administer the same dose again, but skip it if the next dose is due soon.
It is important to continue giving Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet to your child as prescribed, even if they start feeling better after a few doses. Abruptly stopping the medication can worsen your child's condition. Some minor and temporary side effects like fever, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur initially, but these usually subside as the body adapts to the medicine. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome, it is advisable to consult your child's doctor promptly.
Before starting Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet, inform your child's doctor about any medications your child is currently taking and provide a detailed medical history, including any prior episodes of allergies, heart issues, blood disorders, or other health conditions. This information is crucial for proper dose adjustments and overall treatment planning. Additionally, it is important to note that Telekast 5 Chewable Tablet should be taken regularly as prescribed by the doctor to ensure optimal benefits and to prevent asthma attacks effectively.
