About Sivel 400mg Tablet

Sivel 400mg Tablet is a medication used to treat high levels of phosphate in the blood in adult patients undergoing dialysis or with chronic kidney disease. It belongs to a group of medications called phosphate binders, which work by reducing the absorption of phosphate from the intestine, thereby lowering phosphate levels in the blood. This helps in maintaining strong bones and reduces the risk of heart disease and strokes.

It is important to take Sivel 400mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor, with food, at the same time each day to maximize its benefits. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, and diarrhea. In some cases, the medicine may also lead to low levels of calcium, folic acid, and various vitamins in the blood. In such instances, your doctor may recommend necessary supplements to maintain these levels.

However, Sivel 400mg Tablet is not suitable for everyone. It is not recommended for individuals with a history of allergic reactions to any of the ingredients, low blood phosphate levels, or bowel obstruction. Certain conditions like difficulty swallowing, stomach or bowel movement issues, recent major abdominal surgery, or serious inflammatory bowel disease require caution when using this medication.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their healthcare provider before starting Sivel 400mg Tablet as its effects in these situations are not fully understood.

Regular monitoring and following the prescribed diet are essential during treatment with Sivel 400mg Tablet to ensure its effectiveness and prevent any potential side effects. If you experience persistent or worsening side effects, it is advisable to seek advice from your doctor. Remember that this medication is not intended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
