About Influvac 2020/2021 Vaccine
Influvac 2020/2021 Vaccine is designed to help protect individuals from influenza, commonly known as the flu. This vaccine works by introducing a small amount of the flu virus into the body, allowing the immune system to build up defenses against the disease. It is important to note that the vaccine does not treat an existing flu infection; rather, it aims to prevent individuals from contracting the flu in the first place.
Administered as an injection into the muscle by a healthcare professional, Influvac 2020/2021 Vaccine is typically given just before the onset of the cold season when the flu virus is more prevalent. A single injection is usually sufficient to provide protection for a year. It is recommended that individuals receive this vaccination annually due to the frequent emergence of new strains of the flu virus and the development of different vaccines to target these strains. This precaution is especially crucial for the elderly and individuals with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Additionally, young children over 6 months of age are advised to receive the vaccine.
While the vaccine may cause mild side effects such as headache, muscle pain, weakness, or tiredness, these effects are generally short-lived and mild when compared to the potential severity of an actual flu infection. Other common side effects can include bruising, joint pain, sweating, shivering, and pain or swelling at the site of injection. If any side effects persist or cause concern, individuals are urged to consult their doctor for appropriate guidance.
Before receiving the vaccine, individuals should inform their healthcare provider if they are experiencing illness with a high temperature or if they have previously had an allergic reaction to a vaccine. It is important to disclose any other medications being taken, as certain drugs may interact with the flu vaccine. While the vaccine may not offer full protection for everyone, it can help reduce the severity of flu symptoms if an individual does become infected. However, it will not prevent illnesses such as avian flu (bird flu) or the common cold. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult their doctor before receiving the vaccine to address any specific concerns or considerations.
