About Eyevir Eye Ointment

Eyevir Eye Ointment is a medication designed to treat eye infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus. It operates by inhibiting the virus from replicating on the surface of the eyeball, specifically the cornea. By halting the production of new viruses, it effectively clears up the eye infection. This ointment is meant for external application only and should be used according to your doctor's instructions. Remember to wash your hands before and after applying the ointment. It's crucial to continue the treatment for the duration prescribed by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.

Using Eyevir Eye Ointment may result in a stinging sensation and redness in the eyes immediately post-application. These effects are typically temporary and tend to diminish on their own. However, if they persist, it is important to inform your doctor. It's advised not to wear contact lenses while using the ointment to avoid any complications.

EYEVIR 3% EYE OINTMENT contains Acyclovir, an antiviral medication that is effective in treating eye infections associated with the herpes simplex virus. These infections, also known as ocular herpes, present symptoms like red eyes, eye pain, watery eyes, blurred vision, swelling around light, and sensitivity to bright lights. Acyclovir combats the herpes virus by either stopping its growth or killing it. Due to its higher affinity for viral DNA cells compared to human DNA cells, Acyclovir incorporates into the viral DNA, leading to DNA chain termination, thus rendering the virus inactive and causing its death on the cornea's surface.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use EYEVIR 3% EYE OINTMENT cautiously and consult your doctor before application. Common side effects of this medication may include stinging, burning, irritation, and sensitivity to light. Should any of these symptoms worsen, it is essential to contact your doctor for further guidance.
