About Alfacal Plus Capsule
Alfacal Plus Capsule is a unique combination of Alfacalcidol and Calcium carbonate, aimed at preventing bone weakening and enhancing the absorption of calcium. Alfacalcidol efficiently treats conditions where bones become fragile and are at a heightened risk of fractures. It helps maintain bone density and strength, making it effective in treating osteomalacia, a condition characterized by soft bones due to poor mineralization.
Postmenopausal osteoporosis, frequently impacting women after menopause, can also be effectively managed with Alfacal Plus Capsule. Additionally, it is indicated for renal osteodystrophy seen in chronic kidney disease, marked by deficient bone mineralization. The medication is beneficial in neonates, children, and adults dealing with osteodystrophy, a condition involving bone and joint pain, deformities, and fractures resulting from kidney issues or disruptions in calcium and phosphorus levels.
Furthermore, Alfacal Plus Capsule is prescribed for parathyroid gland disorders, such as hyperparathyroidism, to regulate blood calcium levels. It is utilized in cases of low blood calcium in newborns, rickets, osteoporosis, and osteopenia, conditions related to bone density and strength. Patients are advised to avoid foods high in oxalic acid, phosphate, or phytic acid while taking this capsule, to ensure optimal efficacy.
However, individuals with hypercalcaemia, metastatic calcification, hyperphosphatemia, or hypermagnesemia are cautioned against using Alfacal Plus Capsule, except in specific circumstances. Patients with kidney problems, including kidney stones, should use this medication cautiously. Special consideration is needed for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, mothers of premature babies, children, adolescents, and older adults when using Alfacal Plus Capsule. Common side effects may include diarrhea, constipation, stomach upset, abdominal pain, skin rash, and itching, which should be reported to a healthcare provider if they worsen.
