What is piles / Hemorrhoids?

The lower part of rectum and anal canal have multiple veins along the length of the organ. These veins have complex interconnections. Swelling of these veins is called Piles. How to diagnose Piles? When to consult a doctor?

If you have bleeding per rectum, pain while passing stools or any of the above-mentioned symptoms, then you should consult your doctor. Your clinician would take a detailed history followed by examine the bottom. If need be, a special instrument called anoscope or proctoscope would be inserted and examination done.
