About Montek 5 Chewable Tablet
Montek 5 Chewable Tablet is a medication specifically designed to prevent asthma attacks in children. It is also effective in easing breathing difficulties that can occur during strenuous physical activities. Additionally, this medication is used to alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies such as runny nose, sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes.
When administering Montek 5 Chewable Tablet to your child, ensure it is given at a consistent time, either before or after meals, in the prescribed dosage and manner. It may take a few weeks of regular use before the medication fully begins to prevent asthma attacks. For asthma management, it is recommended to give the chewable tablet in the evening or at least 2 hours before engaging in physical activities. In cases of allergies, the evening is the preferable time for administration, depending on the timing of symptom onset. If your child is experiencing both conditions, it is best to administer the tablet in the evening. Should your child vomit within 30 minutes of taking the medication, administer the same dose again, unless it is close to the next scheduled dose.
While your child may start feeling better after a few doses, it is essential to complete the full prescribed course to ensure the maximum benefits. Abruptly stopping the medication can potentially worsen your child’s condition. Some minor and temporary side effects may occur, such as fever, headache, abdominal pain, or diarrhea. Typically, these effects diminish as the body adjusts to the medication. If these side effects linger or become bothersome, promptly consult your child’s healthcare provider.
Inform your child’s doctor about any other medications your child may be taking, as well as their complete medical history. This includes any previous episodes of allergies, heart issues, blood disorders, vascular complications, birth defects, airway obstructions, lung anomalies, skin disorders, liver impairments, or kidney malfunctions. This information is crucial for determining necessary dose adjustments and planning your child’s overall treatment regimen.
