Breaking Barriers: My Journey of Strength & Determination

In my conservative Muslim family, girls weren’t encouraged to study beyond the 10th grade—marriage was the norm. But I wanted more. A teacher who believed in me introduced me to paramedical studies, and I was determined to pursue it. My father was furious, but I kept pushing. After much resistance, my parents relented. I juggled my diploma, commerce studies, and long commutes—walking 3 km and traveling another 5 km by auto daily. Despite the odds, I excelled.

My first job paid ₹6,000 per month—not much, but to me, it was freedom. I decided to fund my BSc myself. My parents were upset and refused financial support, but I stood my ground. I took on an internship alongside my studies, managing both on my own. When my friend could no longer lend me her scooty, I faced another challenge—convincing my family to let me travel for work and different houses and collect samples . My mother worried, my father was angry, but when I managed to juggle work and studies and topped my exams, they began to understand.

Determined to be self-reliant, I asked my parents for a loan to buy a second-hand scooty, promising to repay them. I also covered my own BSc fees. By 2023, I had saved ₹3-4 lakhs, bought a brand-new Activa, and transferred my savings to my mother. My father, who once opposed my ambitions,  was mighty impressed. I was happy that I could change his outlook. He now uses my story to inspire others in family and community. My journey had a ripple effect— my second sister is now pursuing her graduation, and my third sister is also studying. People around me began saying, “If she can do it, so can you.”

At MediBuddy, I reached and helped many customers while growing professionally and financially. My earnings funded my MBA and even helped with my sister’s wedding. My father, who once resisted my career, now encouraged me to choose my own life partner, knowing how many families still disapprove of working women in our community.

With an MBA in hand, I wanted to keep growing, so I enrolled in a Diploma in Data Science. My long-term dream? A PhD. What started as a fight for my own education became a shift in my family’s mindset. From a girl who wasn’t supposed to study beyond the 10th grade, I became the one who changed the narrative.
